Hey everyone!

Have I got an awesome monthly bag of goodies for you. It's called Glam Bag by a company called Ipsy. Every month you are sent a new make-up bag filled with full sized products of your favorite brands. I'm not talking cheap knock-offs, no, I'm talking high end quality products. I mean, what could be better.

This was my very first Glam Bag and I have to say that so far I am very impressed. I am totally a girly girl and the products that I received is tailored to my personal look. How you ask? Well, when I signed up I took a brief survey that asked me about my personal style, look, and skin tone. When I finished they knew what colors would look best on me and what products and colors I preferred. Genius, I know!

Okay, so now I am sure you are wondering what May's Glam Bag is so I am going to stop chit chatting and get on with the goodies already. Also, if you are loving what you are seeing and hearing be sure to sign up for your own glam bag because honestly I haven't told you the most awesome part about it yet ... wanna know? Okay, the best part is that it only cost .... get ready ... $10 per month and that includes shipping. Don't believe me, go check it out for yourself. This has quickly become one of my favorite monthly goodies.

Products

Island Vanilla Perfume Roll-On: $12

Summer and Shimmer Are Truly Endless With Beautiful Body Products from Pacifica

Island Vanilla: Inspired by the unique magic of Tahitian vanilla, this sensual blend sets sweet and sultry vanilla absolute, with honey-jasmine notes and a touch of fruitiness, against a deep and beautiful base of tea.

My Review

When I first saw this I was excited because I love perfume, however when I saw that it was vanilla I wasn't feeling it because I really am not into vanilla for reasons all on it's own. However, I gave it a try and I have to say that I am in love with this perfume. It has a light crisp scent and with my body chemistry it really smells great. I keep it in my purse for a nice hint of scent in the afternoon and everyone that has smelt it loves it too.

Colour Sheers Lipstick: $22

Hydrate and nourish lips while depositing beautifully translucent color for the perfect pout. Available in a wide-range of fashionable shades. Lead-free; Paraben-free.

My Review

This lipstick is gorgeous. It can be full color but can be worn lighter for a more natural hint of color. The color I got was perfect for me and looked great with my fair skin tone. It also lasted a long while which was great and I didn't have to keep applying and re-applying all day.

Nail Polish - Minka: $8

Zoya Nail Polish and Treatments puts beauty, fashion and style into every bottle with innovative custom color creations and fashion trend adaptation resulting in a truly luxury cosmetic experience. Created with the finest quality pigments and finishes, each bottle of Zoya is as special and unique as the woman who created it and whose name graces every bottle – Zoya herself! The award-winning, ultra long-wearing Zoya formula is also vegan friendly and Big5Free*.

*Formulation contains no formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, dibutyl phthalate or camphor.

My Review

All I have to say about this nail polish is that I love it. It goes on sheer but after about two or three coats it becomes darker and more pretty which I love. It even stays pretty for at least a week and with the way I treat my nails sometimes that really says something. I have loved Zoya nail polish for a while and I am totally not disappointed with this one. Love this pretty pink color.

Mini Clear Brow Gel: $22

Anastasia’s best selling product is a clear gel for all brow colors that sets, defines, and shapes your brows all day long for a lustrous, natural look. Flake-proof. Film-forming polymer helps define and hold the brow.

My Review

I have to say this was the first time I have ever used a product like this but because I got it in my bad I decided to use it. I have naturally strawberry blonde eye brows so I use color on them anyway to make it to where I even have eye brows. I used this after I put the color and I have to say that I really liked it. It went on very well and make my brows look beautiful and clean looking. Every brow hair stayed in place and it didn't feel gunky or weird which is what I was afraid of. I can't say this would be something I would personally purchase after I finish up this tube but I will use it more often while I have it.

Concealer Refills: $2.99

Yaby concealers have a creamy texture and are extremely easy to apply. They are highly pigmented to correct any imperfection on the face and body, are creamy and gentle for around the eyes and are tear proof! Vegan friendly and contains no animal byproducts.

The heavy duty metal reusable pans are designed to be sturdy and not easily warped - sanitize empty pans with alcohol and keep some for other special beauty mixing needs!

My Review

I ended up trying this the other day on the dark circles around my eyes and I have to say that it worked great. It had great coverage and I didn't have to use the whole pot to get the good coverage. I have used some concealers that just didn't work or I had to use so much that it felt heavy and honestly could be seen under my final make-up but not this one. It was light and my skin felt great even with my normal make-up. Really great concealer.

Wucaii
by Pembroke Sinclair

Genre:  Adult Urban Fantasy
Publisher:  MuseItUp Publishing
Number of pages:  253
Word Count:  72,568
Cover Artist:  Delilah K. Stephans

Book Description

After five hundred years’ labor destroying worlds, half-dragon half-human Aelana returns to her home planet.

She expects to be anonymous, but instead she is worshipped as a god. She finds the reincarnation of her centuries-dead first and only love and life begins anew. Little does she know, however, that a shrewd and formidable evil lays in wait, one with the power to undo everything she’s worked for. To maintain the balance of the universe, she must confront and destroy the menace before it annihilates her and everything she loves.

Excerpt

Aelana cowered in the corner of her tent, her blanket pulled over her head. Her knees were pulled up to her chest, her forehead resting on them. Muffled, indistinguishable voices drifted through the canvas. Fear beaded sweat on her forehead. What would happen if someone came into her tent? She had given specific orders no one should disturb her, but that didn’t always stop them. They couldn’t find her like this. Bad things might happen if they did.
“Aelana?” a familiar voice drifted into the tiny space. It was low, masculine, and soothing.
She cringed. “Go away, Thoran.”
The canvas door flopped into place, a footstep thudded on the ground.
“I’m not leaving until you tell me what’s going on.”
She inhaled a shaky breath. “I can’t.”
A few more steps sounded, and his hands wrapped around the outside of the blanket. Panic gripped her chest, and she grabbed the edge of the material.
“I’m worried about you. What’s going on? Why have you been hiding lately?” He tugged on the blanket.
“Thoran, no!” Her grip tightened on the cover.
“Aelana, stop this! You’re acting like a child!”
They played tug-of-war with the blanket for several moments. Aelana’s panic increased, and her only concern was keeping herself covered. Thoran wouldn’t understand, he wouldn’t get it. She didn’t even know what was going on. How could she explain it to anyone else? If the changes scared her, they might utterly freak out others.
“Aelana, you can talk to me. You can trust me!” The strain was evident in his voice. He jerked on the material.
He had more leverage than Aelana, and the blanket slipped from her fingers. A squeak escaped her lips as she tried to fold herself in on her own body. He placed his hands on her knees.
“Aelana, please. Talk to me.” His voice was low, pleading.
Her heart rate increased, her breathing became rapid. The desire to push him away and run into the night, disappearing into darkness, surged through her, but she fought back the urge. She wouldn’t; she couldn’t. He’d come after her. Her resolve faltered. If it had been anyone else, it would have been easy to stay strong, overpower them and leave. Thoran, however, could make her talk, make her open up. He knew her better than anyone. That was both comforting and annoying.
He placed one hand on her shoulder and the other on her forearm, pushing gently, attempting to get her to unfurl. “Don’t make me beg.”
With a grunt and a sigh, Aelana threw her arms open and kicked out her legs. Thoran fell backward. She jumped to her feet.
“Is this what you wanted?” she growled. “Are you happy with what you see?”
Thoran moved backward, his eyes wide, his mouth open. She stepped closer and loomed over him.
“Now do you understand why I’ve been hiding?”
Thoran tried to scuttle away, to head out the door. Aelana crouched down and grabbed his collar.
“What’s wrong, Thoran? Talk to me!”
He screamed and slapped her hand away before pushing her over. He crawled out the door, and she collapsed onto her knees. The weight of sadness dropped onto her shoulders. What had she done?

Excerpt
Beginning of the story… I never believed in love at first sight until I stood on the stage in the Moonlight Serenade. The uncomfortable churning of my stomach, that plagued me from the moment I boarded the plane from California, finally settled. The nerves that mocked me for taking this internship moved to the background as I stood looking out over the empty restaurant tables surrounding the stage and bandstand. I closed my eyes, envisioning the warm spotlights causing my skin to glow, the soft timbre of the band playing the melody, all eyes on me as I opened my mouth to sing. My heart swelled as my body swayed to the music in my head. It was love; I was meant to be here, to sing on this stage. “Ah! Collette, my singing song bird,” Jim Riche called, his arms out to embrace me as he walked into the empty restaurant. Minutes before, a Fascination Island staff member dropped me off at my worksite and left me promising to find the resort’s owner. Swallowing the fear that threatened to choke me in this moment, I offered the middle-aged millionaire a meek smile. “Mr. Riche. Thank you again for inviting me to sing here this semester.” “I should be thanking you. I had the privilege of hearing your mother on the stage three different times in New York. It was close to divine. I heard your demos and had to have you here.” I blushed and looked at my feet, embarrassed both by the compliment and the mention of my deceased mother. She’d been dead three years and still even the mere mention of her name or her renowned talent, caused my heart to break again. “It’s an honor,” I mumbled feeling the familiar shyness overtake me under his close scrutiny. I had hoped the decision to pack up and move to Fascination Island for five months would alleviate some of the utter fear I felt in a stranger’s presence. But it hadn’t worked any miracles yet. “Well, Paul Stein won’t be back until tomorrow afternoon. He took a little, needed vacation after the intense summer months. I’m sure you’re eager to start working with him on your repertoire and routines.” I simply nodded. Paul Stein happened to be one of the main reasons I took the job in the first place. Known over the world, Mr. Stein was considered by many to be the pre-eminent vocal coach and mentor for anyone considering a career on the stage. My mother had worked with him for several months at the height of her career and couldn’t say enough about how he had helped her. But now, he had relegated himself to this small five-star resort in the middle of the Fiji Islands and only worked with the select few lucky enough to claim jobs on Mr. Riche’s payroll. I was one such lucky girl.

Writing has been in my soul from the very beginning. In grade school I started my own local paper for the street I lived on. In middle school I wrote for the school paper and loved any English writing assignment. I started writing novels in high school. At the time my friends were the characters, the setting was almost always Regency England, and I scratched the story into lined notebooks.

Now, I have a journalism degree and a dozen various business writing gigs under my belt. I’ve lived in a handful of US cities including Milwaukee, Chicago, Boston, St. Louis and New York. I pen a personal fashion and lifestyle blog, ModlyChic.com, and continue to write about commercial real estate.

My first book, Aurora Undefined, was published in 2011. The Emerald Isle, the first Fascination Island book, came out during the summer of 2012, at which time I immediately began writing the second book in the series.

Next up . . . stay tuned! I’m working on a new contemporary novel as well as the third book in the Fascination Island series.

10 a.m.

Sophia opened her eyes to find Ethan seated on the edge of the bed looking at her, a mug in his hand, his hair damp from the shower, dressed in faded jeans and a blue turtleneck sweater that did wonders to his eyes.
“I could go for hours just looking at you.”
She stretched, raising her arms above her head and entwining them; the sheets moved, showing a breast. “Good morning,” she smiled at him.
Ethan put his mug on the bedside table. “Do that again and you’re not getting out of this bed, Ms. Santo.”
Sophia grinned wickedly and stretched again, this time writhing her body, sheets bunching at her waist.
“Vixen.” Ethan bent to kiss her but she rolled to the other side of the bed and jumped to the bathroom.
“Don’t move,” she ordered. “I’ll be right back.”
When she emerged from the bathroom, he was in the same place, an amused twist on his lips.
“Good boy.” She smiled and picked up his mug, smelling it. “Mmm!” She raised her brows to him and drank his coffee. He smiled at her impudent gesture. She tugged him from the bed by the sweater. “Take it off,” she commanded.
“You like to give orders, huh?”
“Sometimes,” she smiled and quirked an eyebrow. “Do you know how to obey?” “Sometimes,” he replied and took off his sweater.
“Let’s see.” She perched on the end of the bed, tapping her index finger on her lips, admiring his muscles as he moved.
“Now what, Ms. Santo?”
She could see a bulge in his jeans, her lips twisted and curled unbidden. “Jeans.
Off.”
He peeled off his jeans, amused, and threw them on the armchair.
“Briefs. Off!” Her eyes gleamed and she bit her lip.
He took off his briefs and stood proudly in front of her. He knew he had a great figure.
Sophia motioned, with her finger, for him to make a complete turn.
“Do you approve?” he asked huskily.
“Oh, yes, Mr. Ashford, I do!” she nodded.
Jesus! The woman is hot.
Sophia rose from the bed and circled him, her fingers tracing his chest and his shoulder; she ran her hands over his arms and his buttocks, without touching his straining erection.
“A fine specimen, Mr. Ashford.” She pinched his chin lowering his head a bit, to better look at his azure eyes. He hadn’t touched her and she was already turned on. “A very fine specimen,” she murmured.
He let out a laugh. “I will tell my personal trainer that I made the grade.” He grabbed both of her wrists in his grip behind her back and pulled her flush onto his body.
“I wasn’t finished, Mr. Ashford,” she frowned at him.
“Seems I’m not that good at following orders, Ms. Santo.”
She smiled at the admission. “Ethan. I never thought you would be.” And pressed tighter to him, parting her lips.
They met halfway and he savaged her mouth, leaving Sophia with no ability to think.

The Magic Warble
by Victoria Simcox

Pages: 268
Published: February 1st 2009
Publisher: Two Harbors Press
Genre: Fantasy, YA

Book Description

Twelve-year-old Kristina Kingsly feels like the most unpopular girl in her school. The kids all tease her, and she never seems to fit in. In Bernovem, Kristina not only fits in, she's honored as "the chosen one," the only one who can release the land from Queen Sentiz's control. But it's not as simple as it seems. To save Bernovem, she must place the gift she was given, the famous "Magic Warble," in its final resting place. She must travel through the deep forest, climb a treacherous mountain, and risk capture by the queen's "zelbocks" before she reaches her destination. Guided by her new fairy friends, Clover and Looper and by Prince Werrien, a teenage boy, and an assortment of other characters, Kristina sets off on a perilous journey that not only tests her strength but her heart.

Excerpt

She suddenly heard the sound of whistling again, and when she poked her head out of the pile of leaves, she saw a man—or at least she thought it might be a man—coming around the corner of the cottage. He looked old, and he seemed to be even shorter than herself. He had a stout stature, distinctly sharp facial features, icy blue eyes, pointy ears, a long white beard, and silver hair. Upon his left shoulder he carried a large sack, and in his right hand he held a rake. He walked toward the pile of leaves, and Kristina ducked back down so he wouldn’t see her. He dumped out the large sack onto the pile of leaves, which brought another pile of leaves upon her head. Kristina tried not to move or make a sound.

The little man struck a match and was about to throw it on the pile of leaves, right where Kristina was hiding, but she jumped out just before he did so yelling, “Wait! Please don’t throw that match!”

The little man almost fell backwards. “What in our lady’s name is this?” he said, steadying himself.

Interview with
Victoria Simcox

1) What inspired you to write The Magic Warble?

I remember I was sitting in the movie theater watching the first Harry Potter movie when I envisioned my main character Kristina, walking down a snowy sidewalk. At the time that was all of story I had. I went home that night and wrote my first page not knowing where the story would go.

2) How long did it take you to write The Magic Warble?

It actually took me longer than I would have liked. I'd say 4 years. But that was because I was so focused on home-schooling my 3 kids, teaching art, and doing many other things. I didn't have the time I would have liked to put into my writing. Now that my two older kids are in college, I am able to write more frequently.

3) What are some of your favorite books from childhood? Were there any specific authors who inspired you?

C.S Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia were my favorite books as a kid. I used to read them to my mom when she cooked dinner; it's one of my fondest childhood memories. I also love J.K Rowling's Harry Potter series, even though I was older than a child when I read them. I love all kinds of Juvenile fiction.

4) Where did you come up with the characters Kristina and Prince Werrien?

Kristina is my daughter's name, but even though I named the main character after my daughter, Kristina in The Magic Warble is definitely her own person. As for Prince Werrien, a little inner voice called out to me, "Name him Prince Werrien." Na, that wasn't how it happened. I just made it up.

5) If you could befriend a character from any of your books, who would you befriend? Why?

I'll go with Looper—the fairy.  First of all, how cool would it be to have a fairy friend? And second, he's cute, encouraging and always willing to help.

6) Where do you like to write? Do you listen to music while you are writing?

Most of the time I write at my computer, which is in my bedroom. I write whenever I can, morning, afternoon, night. If I'm on the road, I take my lap-top, and if I have time to kill, I'll write anywhere. I like it quiet when I write, but I have written with music on, as well as the television blaring in the background. I have to do what it takes. If I waited for a perfect, peaceful setting to write than I probably wouldn't get much writing in. Also, if I waited for a certain mood to be in than I probably wouldn't write much either. The way I write is more of a discipline; though once I get started, my creativity just starts a flowin'.
