Review

Talk about an original book! This book took me completely by surprise. When I first read the synopsis, I was intrigued and thought it sounded pretty good but honestly pretty good doesn't begin to describe this book. It is original, witty, full of surprised, and fast paced. I simply loved it! As soon as you pick up the book things start happening all at once and there for a moment you are wondering what is going on but you soon realize that Jane is jumping from one dimension to another. Then you are thrown into the evil plan of Anton where he basically not only takes over the world but pretty much all of the other dimensions as well. You also get to meet the handsome and heroic Randy (swoon) who comes in to save Jane on his motorcycle (more swooning). In this book, you pretty much have a bit of everything from action, adventure, romance and of course more action. lol

I love how Irene has taken something that I have heard about and even studied a little myself and made it to where anyone can understand the concept of interplanetary dimensions. I also love that this book really opens up one’s mind to new possibilities and experiences. There were moments when I was reading this book and I couldn't believe what was going on. I swear there were a few times that I wanted to skip to the back to see how things were going to end because right then things were going from bad to worse. I stopped myself, which I am pretty proud of, and didn't cheat but boy were there a few more of those kind of moments. All in all this book was an awesome thrill ride and now that I know there is going to be a second one I am looking forward to see what else Irene can come up with and how much more Jane can go through. I have to say, Jane is one tough cookie and I love a book with a strong female lead.

I have to throw this in but if anyone remembers the television show sliders this book reminds me a lot of that show. Where a person is able to jump from one dimension to another where everything may look the same but is completely different from the original. If you love stuff like that as much as I do then you will really love this book.

I give this book

Author Interview

First I would like to say a big thank you to Irene whom has been very patient with me as I have reviewed her book and put together these question for the interview. This is my very first interview so I wanted to make it fun and entertaining while also getting to know Irene a little more.

So, without further ado, on to the interview.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
I would hope that my book expands the reader’s imagination and allows him or her to think about how their lives might look like in different dimensions if different dimensions indeed exist.

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
The future – to see how far we have progressed in terms of science. I would hope that scientific advances would be used for good.

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
Marie Sklodowska-Curie – she is definitely my role model, being Polish and a woman who accomplished so much in the sciences despite facing great adversity.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I am working on a sequel but I don’t know when it will be ready. But I am aiming to have a more complete draft next summer.

If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world which would it be?
I really wouldn’t know how to decide. One day I would want to explore Northanger Abbey with Catherine Morland and the next day I might want to search for the sea monster 20,000 leagues under the sea with Captain Nemo.

What is your dream cast for your book?
It just so happens that I have a fantasy cast featured on my facebook page, including Ginnifer Goodwin as Jane, John Krasinski as Randy, and Mem Ferda as Anton.  More of the dream cast can be found at: www.facebook.com/OrderofTheDimensions

Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
I guess I see a little of myself in each character.

What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Just keep writing and doing what you love, and try your best in conveying your message even if you feel discouraged.

How do you react to a bad review?
I try to look at the weaknesses they point out and focus on how to improve my writing accordingly.

If you could choose only one time period and place to live, when and where would you live and why?
I like living in the present where I am now but sometimes I fantasize about living by the beach somewhere.

What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
Just saw The Life of Pi the other day and it was simply amazing.  I have not read that book but really want to pick it up now.

Who are your favorite authors of all time?
Too many to list.  Among my favorites would have to be Charles Dickens, Jack London, and Joseph Conrad.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
My physics grades in college could have been better. That is why, although I have always been fascinated with the subject, especially with the many-worlds theory, I ultimately chose biostatistics as the path to follow in my academic career :)

Is there anything else you would like to say or that we should know about you or your book?
I just hope you enjoy the book and set your imagination free while reading it :)

More Information

Irene is doing something awesome, she is donating 20% of her book sales through December 31st to Project Exploration. What is Project Exploration, you ask? Project Exploration is an organization which helps promote the sciences to inner city youth, particularly young girls, in Chicago. In addition to donating 20% of book sales, Irene is also donating $2 for each entry she receives in her December 15th giveaway.  All you have to do to enter is name a movie director to work on an Order of The Dimensions film if the book is ever made into a movie :)  More information can be found on her Facebook page.

For more information on Irene or about her book Order of the Dimensions check out her Facebook page.

I would like to also personally think Irene Helenowski for allowing me the pleasure of reviewing her first book and also for being my very first author to have the pleasure of interviewing. She is an amazingly talented author and I am so happy to have gotten a chance to read her book. I am so looking forward to reading more from her in the future.
