My Fifty Shades of Grey Review

Fifty Shades Trilogy Bundle: Fifty Shades of Grey; Fifty Shades Darker; Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades #1-3) by E.L. James

Now available in a single volume, E L James’s New York Times #1 bestselling trilogy has been hailed by Entertainment Weekly as being “in a class by itself.” Beginning with the GoodReads Choice Award Romance Finalist Fifty Shades of Grey, the Fifty Shades Trilogy will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

This bundle includes the following novels:

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY: When college student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating.  The unworldly Ana realizes she wants this man, and Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian’s secrets and explores her own desires.

FIFTY SHADES DARKER: Daunted by Christian’s dark secrets and singular tastes, Ana has broken off their relationship to start a new career. But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought. They rekindle their searing sensual affair, and while Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Ana is forced to make the most important decision of her life.

FIFTY SHADES FREED: Now, Ana and Christian have it all—love, passion, intimacy, wealth, and a world of possibilities for their future. But Ana knows that loving her Fifty Shades will not be easy, and that being together will pose challenges that neither of them would anticipate. Just when it seems that their strength together will eclipse any obstacle, misfortune, malice, and fate conspire to turn Ana’s deepest fears into reality.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

Here goes for my very first book review!

I kept hearing about these books called “Fifty Shades of Grey” and I have to say that at first I was not into them and didn’t care about reading them. I had no idea what they were about, I didn’t know anything about the author, nor have I had ever heard of them. After reading a friend of mine was reading them I had to check them out, I had to know what all of the hype was all about, for myself.

I went online to Amazon and first got the free sample of the first book first because I was not going to pay for something that couldn’t keep my interest after the first chapter. I started reading the sample on my Kindle and I have to say that I couldn’t put it down from then on. After I finished the chapters in the free sample I immediately bought it and continued until I had all three books read.

Now, after I read the books I was on a high, I guess you could say because I was wanting more and loving everything I had gotten up to that point with the books. I went online and started reading some of the things that other people were saying about it which got me to thinking even more. Now, I know that not everyone is going to have the same feelings as the rest and while many people love the books there are some people that are going to hate the books just because they can.

With all of that said, I think the books were full of information and really sucked the reader into the lives of each character. You couldn’t help but to fall in love with the main characters and cry when they cry, hurt when they hurt and want to be there and help fix what has been broken. I also think the books were very well written as they were easy to follow and had just the right about of information to keep the reader engrossed with what is going on and keeps the reader interested even when things seem to slow down.
Now, what some people seem to forget is that this book is a work of fiction. That means it isn’t true and can be as outrageous and over the top as the writer wants it to be. This book is defiantly over the top when it comes to Christian Grey being so young and already so rich and powerful. Not only does he have more money than he knows what to do with he also is the most beautiful man that falls in love with someone almost described as a plain Jane. Not that there is anything wrong with that at all but in reality, I don’t see much of this happening. I think one review even said that it sounded like a bunch of teenage girls got together, combined what they all would love in a guy (physical wise and even sexual wise) and that is who ended up writing these books. I will admit that at some points I wondered if an actual woman wrote this novel because sometimes it does sound as if maybe a young adult wrote this and had no idea what they were talking about. With all of that said, I still very much enjoyed the books and loved the intimacy and love that developed between Anastasia and Christian. I also love the patience that Anastasia had with Christian but one of the best things is that even though she had lots of patience with him she balanced it out very well and called him out on his shit when she had too which I thought was really awesome. So many times the women in novels give in to everything when it comes to a guy and for me this was one novel where the hereon didn’t let him get away with everything. In my opinion, it was refreshing and really nice to see.

Overall, the books were great. They kept me interested and I have no problem with racy or erotic novels, I actually really love them and this one did not disappoint. I’m looking for my not so fucked up Christian Grey myself! People have to keep an open mind though because while these book are racy they really aren’t about the sex or bdsm. They are about overcoming pain, insecurities, and ultimately our past so that we don’t miss out on having our true happiness.

Fav Quotes from the books ....

Ana - “Why don't you like to be touched" Ana whispered, staring up into soft grey eyes.
Christian - "Because I'm fifty shades of fucked-up, Anastasia”

Ana - “He makes me graceful, that's his skill. He makes me sexy, because that's what he is. He makes me feel loved, because in spite of his fifty shades, he has a wealth of love to give.”

Ana - “This is a man in need. His fear is naked and obvious, but he's lost. . . Somewhere in his darkness. His eyes wide and bleak and tortured. I can soothe him. Join him briefly in the darkness and bring him into the light.”
